A Disruptor. An Innovator. A Partner.
Throughout his career, Peter Mullin brought bold ideas to life. As a pioneer of corporate-owned life insurance as a funding vehicle for executive benefits, he helped change how companies support their executives and deliver ongoing competitive advantage.
Peter had an impact on the industry that spanned more than 60 years. His work has helped companies across a variety of industries empower employees with wealth building retirement plans. By sharing his guidance as the Founding Chairman of Mullin Barens Sanford Financial, he helped us continue to ensure our clients have the expertise and options they need delivered with the hands-on service that sets us apart.
Today, Peter’s innovative approaches live on as the next generation of MBS consultants build on his insights and sustain the stewardship he so powerfully modeled. We are committed to ensuring that Peter’s legacy continues. Our team embodies Peter’s values in our dedication to outstanding service, a passion for innovation, and the drive to deliver measurable value in all we do.

Committed to Giving Back and Continued Innovation
Throughout his life, Peter made great effort to give back. He was active on the boards of the Music Center Foundation, the Peterson Automotive Museum, Good Samaritan Hospital, Art Center College of Design, St. John’s Health Center, Occidental College, and the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). A passionate, knowledgeable car collector, Peter founded the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California, bringing his appreciation for beautiful design and the finest historic French automobiles, from the Bugatti to the Voisin, to the public. He also enjoyed spending time in his favorite place on the central California coast, Big Sur.
In his later years, Peter dedicated his time and energy to exploring how to help people live longer and well. He brought together leading thinkers on aging to build a bridge connecting life, health, and wealth expectancy. His goal was to challenge conventional thinking about aging and uncover opportunities to help others make the most of their later life stages—he thought of it as a time to rewire instead of retire.
